Research on autistic children indicates that they prefer proximal sensory stimulation such as touching. Deep pressure touch has been found to have beneficial effects in a variety of clinical settings. Calming response to deep touch stimulation appears to be most effectivefor autistic disorders.

Bioceramic beads have natural minerals which carry FIR energy. FIR energy is well known and used by oriental medicine for many generations. An article from Chinese Journal of Physiology in 2015 explains the far infrared ray emitting bioceramic material and its effect on the living cells.
Current Trends in Fashion Technology & Textile Engineering
With the recent developments of nanotechnology the textile industry introduced health fabrics which emit far infrared energy. FIR energy can penetrate up to4 centimeters (about 1-1/2 inches), exciting the vibrational energy of molecules and resonating with cellular frequencies. It is clinically proven that FIR emitting fabrics promote metabolism and blood circulation in the body.

Participants were aged between 5 years and 16 years 10 months, with a confirmed ASD diagnosis and severe sleep problems, refractory to community-based interventions. The interventions were either a commercially available weighted blanket or otherwise identical usual weight blanket (control), introduced at bedtime; each was used for a 2-week period before crossover to the other blanket.

The literature review from 2015 explains the positive effect of FIR ray treatment on chronic diseases. It is shown FIR therapy accelerates peripheral blood flow and nitric oxide production in the cells. It was concluded that FIR therapy improves the symptoms of chronic diseases e.g.cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease.

The results of this study show that the use of Ball Blankets is a relevant and effective treatment method with regard to minimizing sleep onset latency. Use of Ball Blankets for 14-days improves the time it takes to fall asleep, individual day-to-day variation and the number of awakenings to a level that compares with those found in the healthy control group.

Little is known about the effect of far-infrared rays (FIR) on serotonin and malondialdehydelevels in depressed patients with insomnia. The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of far-infrared rays on depressed people with insomnia.

Some people count sheep at night. You count worries. If you often find yourself lying awake at night, staring at the ceiling, you may be looking for solutions to help you get back to sleep. One new approach that doesn't involve drugs or doctors is becoming increasingly popular: weighted blankets.
Journal of Sleep Medicine and Disorders
Insomnia and sleep deprivation effect almost 30% of the people from any age group in the western countries. Insomnia has impact on mental and physical wellbeing. A 2015 study from Sweden used weighted blankets for insomnia patients. Improved sleep quality and quantity was shown with using weighted blankets.
